History of La Cresta
La Cresta is a California non-profit mutual benefit corporation established by filed with Secretary Of State on 04/27/1988 that encompasses approximately 5,878 acres that is home to 904 individual residential agricutural parcels, zoned , many of which are developed large ranch estates on five-acre minimum parcels. The term "La Cresta" refers to the first developed property owners association for the development of La Cresta Property Owners Association, aka LCPOA.
Governing Documents: Board Imposes Additional Obligations Beyond Bylaws and CC&Rs, Refusal to Accept an Experienced Member MDM Auger from Proxy Committee.
As the LCPOA board gained more influence, they decided to impose additional obligations on the homeowners beyond what is outlined in the association's Corporate by-laws and CC&Rs. These obligations included enforcing strict deadlines and hefty fines for non-compliance ( from $200 to $5000). Homeowners were concerned about these new obligations, as they were not mentioned in the governing documents they had agreed upon when purchasing their property. Some felt that the board was overstepping its authority by unilaterally imposing these requirements without member consent.
During the 2022 LCPOA board elections, MDM Auger, a long-standing and respected member of the community, expressed her interest in serving on the Proxy Committee. MDM had previous experience as a professional Inspector of Elections and was known for her impartiality and attention to detail. However, to the surprise of many, the volunteer application of MDM Auger was rejected by the board without a clear explanation.
